What do I do now?

Today is the first official day of Summer vacation.
What do I do now?
Next week is Ron's week off so we have fun things planned, but after that - BUBKISS!!
And I freely admit that I am one of those awful parents who hates having her kids home all day.
I GO CRAZZZZZYYYYYYY!!!
So could I get some good ideas of how to keep all of us sane this summer please?
The biggest problem is that with the age differences I can't please everyone with one activity. If the big kids are happy then Tess is usually in a stroller throwing a fit or I am miserable keeping her out of things. If its something for Tess than the big kids are bored and whining. And I can't afford to have them all in a million sports or day camps (not that they have those here anyway). Oh, and keep in mind that I have a terrible two year old who still takes naps in the afternoon. To top it all off all my babysitters are moving in the next two weeks. Yippie for me!!
If you value my sanity at all - you'll help me!!!!!!!!

we go to the pool a lot. there is a little kids area that is seperate and i sit there with Gracie and Von and the big kids run off by themselves. ;) i also have mandatory quiet hour (or 2 if i decide to take a nap with the younger ones)if i can have a bit of quiet every day it sure helps. Good luck!

We have quiet time every day too! All kiddos are quiet for at least an hour, they can either read or lay down. Get a membership to Thompson Park/Zoo kids of all ages like to go there. Ice cream is always a fun thing to do, they have so many ice cream stands around. Swim lessons are always on our summer list and see if there is a summer library program!

Summer library programs are great! If you don't have a library, you could always make up your own with its own reward system that you choose. I always make a chart since kids love to visually see their progress. I also re-discovered homemade play dough last week. It is so easy to make and all my age kids love doing it. It gives me at least an hour of free time since they are all so intense in their play dough fun! HOpe this helps you.

Well, you could always go to Grandparents.com they have lots of good outside ideas for kids to play. And the age difference would prob. be fine. Good luck I am stuck with my kiddies until they start school. Then I will prob. miss them. Go figure, huh.

Okay here's what I propose (granted, my kids are younger so what do I know), you let Zach and Ty build a fort in the back yard. A real one. They have to come up with a detailed plan of materials they'll use from what you have, and a list of things they might need to buy from Home Depot, which they can do extra chores to earn. So that's takes them a couple of days. Then they start to build and you have to a) let them use hammer and nails, eek (but no saws or anything) and b) be willing to have an eye sore in your back yard for a while. If they need to do big things on it, they wait until Ron gets home to help. Building forts was a favorite for my brothers at that age and it kept them out of my mom's hair. Then for Emma, you teach her to embroider. Again, its a needle (eek!) but you can get blunt ones at the craft store, and just give her fabric to work with that has a low thread count. Embroidering is way easier than cross stitch. My mom is teaching 2nd grade and her kids love it. Emma is younger but I bet she could do it. Then just keep sewing her little creations into simple little pillows for her bed.

This is from Mason
first you need a weekly scedule. look around for summer activitiesin the city that happen weekly. Make agiant calendar and write it all out. Pick a theme for next month like space and the stars.Find places to go and see those things, rent imax movies from net flix and pick special treats and set ups to watch them. One night a week go some place the kids can see the stars. Invite inactives or new members to dinner. Go to the park a coupleof times a week and create obstacle coarses for the kids to run timed. Pick a day each week that the kids plan and make lunch.
